IRCTC announce home delivery of all the ticket booked online. Interestingly, the cash on delivery option also provided to all the passengers who booked ticket online. It means anyone with valid user ID and password for IRCTC Online ticket booking system can have this services. Online ticket can be booked online after choosing the option ‘Cash on Delivery’ as like online shopping sites Flipkart, Amazon etc. Now IRCTC is providing the Cash mode option for online rail ticket booking.
Unable to understand, Government focusing on digital payment whereas Railways promoting cash transaction through such enhanced services.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has provided this services through its website and mobile app. Home delivery of booked tickets i.e. pay-on-delivery (PoD) option will facilitate those consumers who book through travel agents to move to online medium.

Railways saying that this will also encourage people who book at railway reservation counters to move to online medium as there is a cost and effort to reach the reservation counters.
No services are free, similarly passengers will have to do a one-time registration for availing Payment on Delivery (PoD ) as a payment option. The charges for Home delivery of booked ticket online is Rs 90 plus service tax for ticket reservation amount up to Rs 5000 where as Rs 120 plus tax for transactions over Rs 5,000.. He or she will have to tender either Aadhaar or Pan card to avail this payment option.

In case of refusal or cancellation before delivery, the customer will be liable to pay the cancellation and delivery charges.
