Indian Railways has started the Book Ticket Online, Pay on Delivery Services as like other services offer by online Retailers like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal etc. The services will be likely to COD module “cash-on-delivery” mode.
The COD services will be provided by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) through partner i.e. BookmyTrain.com. This is offering the cash-on-delivery option for railway tickets bought online.
It has been brought to the notice of IRCTC that there are many customers who are reluctant to use their bank credit card or those who don’t have net-banking enabled bank account or cards, basically the recently opened Jandhan Opened account and reduce the burden of Windows Counter.
How Does Book Ticket Online, Pay on Delivery Services work ?
The process is very simple :
1. Book your Ticket Online Through BookmyTrain.com
2. Make payments at the time of delivery of tickets at the specific counters.
3. Travelers can book tickets five days prior to commencement of journey.
4. Pay the delivery charges similar to IRCTC I-tickets: Rs 40 will be charged for delivery of each sleeper class ticket and Rs 60 for an AC class ticket.
The scheme has been launched on pilot basis and the service will be available in more than 200 cities initially.
